Honduras 2012 — January 20-27

Luke 9:2 Ministries will again return to Honduras in 2012. Our next mission trip is scheduled for Jan. 20-27, when we will work with Dr. Jorge Ponce near the city of Tegucigalpa in Central Honduras. Our goal is to take a team of 40 on this trip.

The "home base" for the week will be a retreat center in Cofradia, Honduras, where Dr. Ponce's church maintains a mission house, two dormitories, and a nursing home for senior citizens. At Corfradia Camp, Dr. Ponce's wife, Evan, and the church pastor's wife will prepare our meals in the large on-site kitchen. We will eat and fellowship together in the dining area equipped to accomodate up to 120 people. Clinics will be conducted in surrounding areas where Dr. Ponce already has established connections. He will follow up with and maintain relationships with patients after our trip is completed.

Luke 9:2 Ministries partners with local health professionals who provide medical care to underserved people groups, to educate the people in basic health and nutrition, and to improve the health of the overall community. By partnering with local providers, we are able to assure adequate follow-up and continuous care for the lives that we directly touch during our trips.

As our team and support continues to grow, we hope to be able to take more than one trip per year, providing more direct care and further solidifying our relationships with the local population. We also hope to purchase and transport more medical and dental supplies to be able to replenish the needs of those who provide follow-up when the team returns to the United States. We hope to contribute to health education efforts in order to provide primary prevention and treatment of current illness.
